I think you would have probably tried at least one of these foods, here’s a list of our fan favourites, and if you haven’t tried any of them, perhaps this gives you inspiration.
5) Chicken Tikka Masala, using staple spices such as cumin, garam masala, and turmeric. Curries are most popular in Western India, Malaysia, Thailand, and South Africa. Whilst the term ‘curry’ is a cloudy term that’s almost harder to define than irony, all it takes to be labelled a curry is a spice blend which is rooted in the Indian curry tradition.
4) Classic beef burger. Charlie Nagreen, who in 1885 sold a meatball between two slices of bread at the Outagamine County Fair, the Seymour Community Historical Society credits Nagreen for the invention and has named it “Hamburger Charlie.” The easy and affordable nature of a hamburger is most likely why its popularised, and of course the help of notorious McDonalds.
3) Ramen, a Japanese noodle soup, with a combination of a rich broth, noodles, combination of meats and your choice of veg. The dish that was originally imported from China and has become one of the most popular dishes in Japan in recent decades. Ramen is inexpensive, with an average price of 600-1000 Yen which equates to roughly 3-4 Pound, which makes it an ideal option for locals and travellers.
2) Donner kebab. Unlike your first thoughts about the European fast-food option, the doner kebab is much more than that. Arriving in Europe in the mid 1930’s when a handful of Greek and American restaurant owners decided to add it to their menus. At the time it was an unassuming dish known only to immigrants, who saw it as a cheap meal that also allowed them to preserve a symbolic link with their home countries.
1) Pizza became popular after the Second World War, it was a cheap alternative for the working class in Naples. In the United States alone, there are about three billion pizzas served annually, because of the casual and accessible nature it boasts. Pizza still today remains a social food to be enjoyed with family and friends and allows us to have a great time in the company of others.
